Anhydritec UK Appoints Phil Robinson as Dedicated Technical Support for Architects and Specifiers

Anhydritec UK, manufacturer of the Gyvlon range of calcium sulphate liquid screeds, has announced the appointment of Technical Manager Phil Robinson as its dedicated CPD-trainer and main support contact for architects.
The move formalises a service that will see Robinson working directly with practices on technical drawings and project-specific consultations, giving architects a single, specialist point of contact within the Gyvlon technical team.
The appointment reflects growing demand from architects for closer, more responsive technical input at the specification stage, particularly as flowing screed systems are increasingly specified in projects with demanding underfloor heating, acoustic, and programme requirements. Robinson's role will focus on supporting architects through detailing, build-up specification, and the technical queries that arise as projects move from concept to construction.
A specifier-focused career
Robinson brings close to two decades of experience working directly with the construction specification community, much of it spent translating technical product knowledge into practical guidance for designers.
He joined the Anhydritec team in January 2022 as Technical Specification Manager, covering Greater London, where he has spent the past four and a half years working with architects and contractors on screed specification and technical support across a wide range of project types.
Before moving into screeds, Robinson spent over two years as Sales Manager at Bathgate Flooring, and a year as an Acoustic Specialist at Acoustic Comfort, where he designed acoustic systems for the commercial sector. These experiences gave him a grounding in the interaction between floor build-ups, acoustic performance, and the practical realities of commercial fit-out.
Prior to that, Phil spent four years as Specification Manager at Kingspan Access Floors, covering London and the South East, working on raised access flooring specification for commercial buildings. His earlier career included seven years as an Acoustics Specialist at SIG plc, also covering London and the South East, where he developed detailed knowledge of acoustic separation and floor system performance — a recurring thread that runs through his specification career and remains directly relevant to many of the underfloor heating and acoustic floor build-ups where Anhydritec screeds are preferred.
Across this trajectory of expanding his practical knowledge of acoustics, access flooring, and now liquid screeds, Phil has built a specification career almost entirely focused on what happens at floor level in commercial and residential buildings, and on supporting the architects and specifiers who design around it.
What the new role means for architects
As dedicated support agent for architects, Phil Robinson is available for:
Technical drawing support — reviewing and advising on floor build-up details, junction details, and screed specification drawings during the design and technical design stages.
Project consultations — direct, one-to-one technical discussions on specific projects, including advice on bay sizing, movement joints, underfloor heating integration, and substrate compatibility.
CPD and technical guidance — drawing on his specification background to support architects working through the practical detailing questions that follow on from Gyvlon's CPD seminars.
Anhydritec already runs RIBA-approved CPD seminars on flowing screed technology, covering the performance benefits of anhydrite-based screeds over traditional cement screeds, including improved fluidity, sustainability, dimensional stability, acoustic and underfloor heating performance. Robinson's appointment extends that offer beyond the seminar room, giving architects a named technical contact to follow up with once a CPD session raises project-specific questions.
About Gyvlon and Anhydritec
Gyvlon is the flowing screed brand of Anhydritec, part of the Minersa Group, and has been established in the UK for over 40 years. The Gyvlon range of calcium sulphate (anhydrite) screeds is manufactured and quality-controlled at partner concrete plants across the UK and Ireland, then delivered ready-to-use and pumped directly on site.
Anhydrite screeds differ from traditional cement-based screeds in their crystalline structure, offering benefits that include greater fluidity for self-levelling application, larger bay sizes, reduced shrinkage, and improved performance with underfloor heating systems. The range also offers an average recycled content of 36%, supporting more sustainable specification choices.
Commenting on the appointment, Anhydritec's UK Commercial Manager Kevin Thomas said that whilst this isn't a new or expanded role for Phil, giving architects direct access to him as the go-to specifications expert for Gyvlon screeds in the UK will ensure the best technical support at the stages of a project where it matters most: during detailing and technical design. Phil will also be continuing to engage with specifiers at the commercial enquiries and CPD stages.
